Great Lakes Drywall is an Illinois drywall contractor working with homeowners, builders, designers, and property managers throughout Illinois. Our focus is straightforward: smooth finishes, clean job sites, and clear communication.

We treat every project - from a full new-construction house down to a single ceiling patch - with the same approach: prep the space carefully, hang and finish drywall to a consistent standard, and clean up like we were never there.
Our crews live and work in the communities we serve. That means shorter drive times, faster response, and better follow-through when something needs another look.

Materials & spec standards
We hang USG, National Gypsum, and CertainTeed board and finish to GA-214 Level 4 and Level 5 standards. Moisture-resistant board in wet zones, Type-X in fire-rated assemblies, and impact-resistant board where a residential wall needs to survive real life.
Dust control & cleanup
Sanding drywall generates respirable silica. Our crews use HEPA-vac sanders, zip-wall containment, and floor protection on every occupied-home project. We leave the space cleaner than we found it - that's the standard, not an upsell.
Insurance, licensing & safety
Fully insured with general liability, workers' comp, and umbrella coverage sized for both residential remodels and commercial buildouts. Certificates of insurance issued the same day to GCs, property managers, or homeowners on request.
Who we work with
Roughly half our schedule is homeowner-direct work - repairs, basement finishes, whole-house new construction, and remodel finishing for interior designers on the North Shore. The other half is trade partnerships with general contractors, builders, and property management companies who need a drywall sub who returns calls, hits schedule, and finishes to the level the plans actually spec.
We estimate off drawings for commercial buildouts and we walk residential projects in person before quoting. Either way, the number on the proposal is the number on the invoice - no surprise line items for things a competent drywall contractor should have caught on the walk-through.
